Description
As this flowers name gives away, the Stream
Violet (Viola glabella) is common
around streams, or in moist forest locations. It grows
in the wild across eastern Asia and western North America.
This flower is also known as the Pioneer Violet.
The Stream Violet is a perennial
flower that grows to heights of about 10 cm. The actual
flowers of the plant are a bright yellow, with purple
lines on the inside of the bottom three petals. The
Stream Violet is in flower in April and May.
The Stream Violet requires moist,
well-drained, and acidic or neutral soils to grow properly.
As it grows in forests, it can survive in both shaded
and semi-shaded areas.
