Description
Native to Japan, the Star Magnolia
(Magnolia stellata) is a small tree with large
white or light pink flowers that bloom early in life.
In has been brought to North America and now grows naturally
there as well. The flowers will appear
in the spring before the leaves.
The Star Magnolia is very slow growing,
but very large, reaching heights up to 20 feet. The
leaves have an oblong shape, growing to 10 cm long and
4 cm wide. The flowers themselves grow to about 9 cm
long and have a light fragrance.
