Description
Yellowroot (Xanthorhiza simplicissima)
is a deciduous shrub that is native
to the eastern parts of North America. It's strongest
range is from New York, West Virginia, and along the
coast to Florida.
The Yellowroot shrub grows to heights
of about 1 meter and widths of about 3 meters. It inhabits
woodland areas where there is barely any shade, but
can grow in sunlight as well.
Yellowroot plants can grow in light, medium or heavy
soils, but do need the soil to be acidic. The soil will
also need o be moist, or even wet, to grow Yellowroot
properly.
