Hainan White Pine Description
The Hainan White Pine (Pinus fenzeliana)
has a very small region, being endemic
to the island of Hainan located off the southern coast
of China. It is also commonly known as Fenzel's
Pine. This pine tree reaches
heights of about 20 meters.
The leaves of the Hainan White Pine
are needles growing anywhere between 6 and 11 cm. They
are covered in woody, thick scale-like growths, with
large seeds about 1 to 1.5 cm long.
There has been unsubstantiated rumors of the Hainan
White Pine showing up in mainland China and Vietnam,
but never proven. |
